Invoice reminder tools for Stripe, compared

If your invoices live in Stripe, there are four ways to chase the late ones: Stripe’s own reminders, a finance platform, a DIY automation, or a tool built for this one job. Here’s how they compare, including us.

Prices and features below come from each company’s own website, checked on October 22, 2026. They change, so follow the links for the latest. “Not listed” means we couldn’t find it on their public pages, not that it can’t be done.

Stripe’s own reminders

Stripe can email a customer about an unpaid invoice before, on, or after the due date, and you can add several reminders for one-off invoices. They come with Stripe Invoicing, which charges per paid invoice (0.4% on Invoicing Starter).

Good for: clients who pay after one nudge. Falls short: every reminder is the same Stripe email with your branding, so nothing gets firmer, and nothing happens if they ignore it. Stripe payment reminders vs. escalation goes into detail.

Finance platforms

Accounts-receivable platforms do far more than reminders: workflows across many accounts, statements, forecasting, multi-entity reporting. They’re built for finance teams, and priced and sized that way.

Paidnice

Reminders by email, SMS and WhatsApp, late fees and interest written back to your ledger, and escalation to a more senior sender. It integrates with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Stripe, and is built around the accounting ledger. Essentials is $69 a month for 150 invoices and 600 emails, with up to 2 team members; Pro is tiered by invoice volume from $99; SMS costs $0.10 each. Paidnice pricing

Chaser

Automated receivables workflows and follow-up templates, integrated with a long list of accounting systems and ERPs, including Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite and Stripe. Its Stripe integration syncs invoices, customers and credit notes once a day and before reminders go out. Compact is $259 a month billed monthly, for businesses under a revenue cap, with 4 users. Upflow

A receivables platform with automated follow-ups across email, SMS, calls and letters, a native Stripe Billing integration, and an optional payments add-on. Prices are by quote, and plans are sized by annual invoiced revenue, from up to $10M to over $100M. Upflow pricing

Good for: a business with a finance team, an accounting system at the center, and many invoices a month. Falls short for a small agency: you pay for statements, ledgers and dashboards you won’t open, and none of them lists locking a client’s access as a step.

DIY automation

Zapier or Make can watch Stripe for invoices and send emails from your inbox on a delay. For a few clients, it works.

Falls short: you build and maintain the parts that matter most. Stopping the instant an invoice is paid, not emailing the night before a payment lands, respecting business hours in the client’s timezone, handling an unsubscribe, and keeping a record of what went out. Each is a small job. Together they’re a product.

UntilPaid

This is ours, so read it with that in mind. UntilPaid does one job: it reads your overdue Stripe invoices and runs a ladder you write, in your name, inside your business hours.

  • Escalates. You pick the days and write each email: friendly, firmer, a final notice with a date.
  • Locks access on Pro. When the final notice’s date passes, a signed webhook tells your app to lock a staging site or portal, and a second unlocks it the moment Stripe marks the invoice paid.
  • Only reads Stripe. It connects through Stripe’s official OAuth and never moves money, creates charges or edits an invoice.
  • Doesn’t do: accounting sync, statements, multi-entity reporting, or invoices outside Stripe. SMS is coming soon.

Starter is $29 a month (email ladder, quiet hours, 1 seat), Pro $79 (adds Lock access and sending from your own domain, 3 seats), Agency $149 (adds API access, 10 seats). 14-day trial, no card.

Which to pick

  • Most clients pay after one nudge: turn on Stripe’s reminders. They’re free with Stripe Invoicing.
  • You run a finance team and an accounting system: look at the platforms above.
  • A handful of clients and you like building: DIY, and budget time for the edge cases.
  • You’re an agency on Stripe, chasing personally, and some clients need more than reminders: that’s what UntilPaid is for.
